| Infrastructure Sector |
Power plant works
The Company has executed a number of projects in the Power Sector over the years. The following projects need mention:
- Make up water system of NTPC Super Thermal Power Plant at Simadrih, which involved construction of well and jetty in high seas.
- Construction of Unit 3,4,5,6 of (4x500MW) Talcher Super Thermal Power Plant of NTPC.
- The main plant and off-site civil works package at NTPC, Unchahar Super Thermal Power Plant.
- SG Area and offsite area civil works package at NTPC Vindhyachal
The status of ongoing Power Plant Projects of NTPC is as below:
Kahalgaon (Bihar):
- Work on SG Area civil package and main plant package, worth Rs.36.40 Crore and Rs.32.20 Crore respectively, are in progress.
- The ash dyke work of Lagoon III A,B,C worth Rs.7.00 Crore at Kahalgaon is almost complete.
Sipat:
- S.G. Area civil work package worth Rs. 64.29 Crore respectively is in progress.
Anpara-D:
- Levelling and Grading work at 2x500MW units Anpara-D Thermal Power Station of UPRUVNL under BHEL for Rs.24 Crore is in progress.
Bokaro
- Construction of Ash Pond in DVC under Barauni Thermal Power Station for Rs.48 Crore is in progress.

| Dams and Irrigation Projects |
The Company has a remarkable history in construction of irrigation projects all over the country. The 350 m long and 101m high concrete dam constructed at Supa in Karnataka speaks highly about the construction capability of the Company.
Construction of Chitravathi Balancing Reservoir near Parnapalli, Andhra Pradesh, Icha Dam for Subarnarekha Multipurpose Project, Bihar, Earthen Dam Project at Rajghat for Betwa River Board and Disaster Management Project of River Kosi and Anti-Erosion work of River Ganga at Bhagalpur in Bihar are also worth mentioning.
River Training project of Bagmati River in Bihar
The Company has been executing the mega turnkey project of ‘River Training of Bagmati River’ in Bihar, on the basis of MOU signed with Water Resources Department, Govt. of Bihar. The cost of the project is estimated at Rs.798 Crore and to be awarded in phases till 2011-12.
Following are the major ongoing irrigation projects of the Company:
- The Spillway Dam Project at Durgawati, Sasaram (Bihar), awaiting clearance to restart, a project worth Rs.80 Crore
- Widening of the Nandgram marginal bund, Ghaziabad, under the Irrigation Department, Uttar Pradesh, a project worth Rs.10 Crore
- The Madipur drain work under the Municipal Corporation, Delhi, for Rs.28 Crore.
- Raising and Strengthening of left and right embankments of Bhutahi Balan, 2 projects worth Rs.14 Crore and Rs.17 Crore each.

| Railway Projects |
The Company has diversified in a big way in Railways all over the Country in the recent years. HSCL’s participation in Railway projects involves formation of embankments, construction of minor and major bridges for gauge conversion and laying of new lines, construction of platforms, railway workshops, administrative Buildings and other facilities. East Central, South Central and South Western Railways are the major clients of the Company.
The Company completed the following Railway projects over the years:
- For the South Central Railways, the Company constructed Bridge No.1b near Vijayawada, a project worth Rs.2.74 Crore.
- For the East Central Railway, it constructed the pile foundation of Bridge No.80, 1&2, between Darbhanga–Narkatiagunj, a project worth Rs.9.95 Crore.
- The Company built an embankment of the Ganga Bridge south-end at Patna for Rs.23 Crore.
- It also constructed minor and major bridges between Samastipur and Khagaria for Rs.6 Crore.
The Company's ongoing Railway projects:
- Major and minor bridges between Darbhanga and Narkatiagunj, Bihar, for ECR for Rs.17 Crore.
- Construction of a workshop at Samastipur, East Central Railway (ECR), for Rs.19 crore
- Construction of sub-structure and superstructure for bridge numbers 9, 15 and 30 between Muza and Sitamarhi and bridge numbers 30, 31, and railway over-bridge and under-bridge between Rajgir and Tilaia, two projects of ECR for Rs.15 Crore
- Construction of four major bridges for the BG line between Koderma and Hazaribagh of ECR for Rs.6 Crore.
- General manager's main administrative building at Hajipur, a project worth Rs.12 Crore under East Central Railway.
- Administrative building and shed at Samastipur workshop, a project worth Rs. 19 Crore under East Central Railway.
- Construction of a major bridge between Hazaribagh and Barkakhana for South East Central Railways (ECR) at Rs. 14 crore under the Bokaro Unit.
- Earth work, minor bridges, etc., to construct a new B.G. line between Barkakhana and Hazaribagh for ECR at Rs.12 crore under the Bokaro Unit
- Construction of BG lines between Koderma and Ranchi and Dumka and Rampurhat, for Eastern Railway, two projects worth Rs.26 Crore under Bokaro Unit.
- Earthwork in connection with gauge conversion at Noapara-Gunupur section in Orissa, for East Central Railway (ECR) for Rs.6 Crore.
- Earthwork in connection with construction of New BG Rail Line from Koderma to Ranchi, 3 projects worth Rs.56 Crore under Bokaro Unit.
- Construction of Officers Quarters at Hajipur under Patna Unit for Rs.20 Crore.
- Construction of railway over-bridge between Sitanagaram and Bobli for ECR at Rs.4 Crore
- Construction of 10x32M span pre-stressed concrete box girder bridge between Kadur and Chickmagalur under South Western Railway (SWR) for Rs. 19 Crore
- Zonal office at Hubli, South Western Railway, a project worth Rs.16 Crore

Roads and Highways |
The Company has been an old campaigner in Road Sector business. Starting from Plant and Township Roads for almost all the Steel Plants, HSCL has constructed high value 2nd Hoogly Bridge approach road and flyover in Kolkata, Bhopal Sehore Bypass road in MP etc. Besides these, the two road maintenance projects under World Bank funding between Salem-Karur and Tuticorin in Tamilnadu are worth mentioning.
Highway Projects
The Company has already entered into National High way project at Nagpur for four laning of NH-7 under NHAI and Strengthening of carriageway of NH-42 in Orissa under State Highway Department.
Flyover Project at NOIDA
During 2007-08, the prestigious Rs.106 Crore Film City flyover project at NOIDA was successfully completed and opened to commuters.
PMGSY Projects
Rural Engineering Departments under different State Governments have taken up construction of new rural roads and upgradation of existing links in phases under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The PMGSY is a major initiative under Govt.’s Bharat Nirman Programme. HSCL, being a leading construction Company in the Public Sector, considers it as a primary responsibility to participate in the development programme in the remote areas of the country.
The work involves soil investigation, preparation of DPR, construction of new rural links in phases, initially for the areas with population of 1000 and subsequently for the places with 500 inhabitants in the 2nd phase. Up gradation of the existing links and maintenance of constructed roads for 5 years are also to be carried out under this programme. HSCL’s participation in the total initiative is as Project Implementation Agency (PIA).
The Company has taken up PMGSY work in two Districts North and Dhalai of Tripura under four phases Phase IV, V, VI & VII. The order value at present is about Rs.488 Crore. The work is going on under strict supervision and adequate security for the working personnel. Some of the links have already been opened to public.
The Company has also taken up PMGSY work worth Rs.153 Core in Ranchi. |

| Educational institutions, hospitals, commercial / residential complexes, industrial buildings and others: |
| Educational institutions
The Company can take pride for its participation in the field of building infrastructures for spread of education in the country. Kendriya Vidyalaya Samiti and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samity are two of the major clients for whom the Company has been taking up construction of School Buildings including all the allied infrastructures for the last several years. The performance of the Company in this sector has always been outstanding and appreciated by the clients. About 10-12% of the Turnover is generated from these projects every year.
The Company executed projects worth Rs.92 Crore during 2009-10 for Navodaya and Kendriya Vidyalayas across the states of Jharkhand, Bihar, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.
At present the Company has about Rs173 Crore worth of KVS and NVS orders in hand.
Apart from KVS and NVS, Benaras Hindu University, Pondichery University and Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies also figure in the Company’s clients’ list.
The following are the Company's ongoing projects in Education sector.
- Renovation and addition at Benaras Hindu University for Rs.58 Crore
- Institute for Higher Tibetan Studies at Sarnath, Varanasi for Rs.10 Crore
- Construction of North Stand of Kalinga Stadium, Sports Academy for Rs.6 Crore
Medical complexes
Company’s contribution in building up Hospitals, Health Care Centers and Medical Research Institutes has been remarkable. During the last several years, the Company intensified its activities in this field and achieved a resounding success.
The picturesque building of National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai, constructed for Indian Council of Medical Research bears the stamp of modern architecture, quality and perfection.
Apart from Indian Medical Research Institute, the Company has taken up construction of Medical complexes under Department of Health, Government of Tripura, Department of Health, Government of Jharkhand and Society of Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER).
Following are the Company's ongoing Medical projects:
- Two projects worth Rs. 34 Crore for the National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health/Mumbai at Maharashtra.
- A project worth Rs.17 Crore to construct a 150-bed super-specialty hospital for Rajendra Memorial Research Institute at Patna.
- Construction of Medical Linac Laboratory and Radiation Shield Room at Belapur, SAMEER for Rs.11 Crore.
- Construction of three 150-bed district hospitals at Tripura under the Department of Health, Government of Tripura.
- Construction of 17 Community Health Centres and 1 Sadar hospitals in different Districts of Jharkhand worth Rs.60 Crore.
- TDRC and International Hostel renovation work at Patna for Rs.35 Crore
- Renovation of Laboratory Building at NARI/Pune worth Rs10 Crore
Multi-Storied commercial and residential complexes
The Company has a rich credential in construction of Multi-Storied commercial and residential complexes. The journey started with construction of Township for Bokaro Steel Plant. Later on, the Company contributed in building Townships for other SAIL steel plants and at Simahdri, Andhra Pradesh for NTPC.
The four towers of 10 Storied MLA quarters at Chennai stand as a sign of construction excellence of the Company.
The ‘Pouro Bhaban’ in Kolkata for Bidhan Nagar Municipality is another landmark built by the Company.
Administrative Building and Residential Quarters (A, B, C, D type) for MOIL, constructed by HSCL, earned appreciation from the Hon’ble Steel Minister for its quality and timely completion.
Following are the Company's ongoing building projects:
- Pilgrimage centre at Sikkim, a project worth Rs.56 Crore.
- Cultural Centre at Yangang, a project worth Rs.41 Crore.
- Complex for residential quarters at Sonepur/Hajipur for ECR employees, a project worth Rs.11 Crore.
- Construction of Office Building at Hubli for EPFO worth Rs.8 Crore.
- Construction of Company Affairs Building at Cuttack for IDCO, a project worth Rs. 5 Crore.
- Construction of Office-cum-Training Centre at Jaydev Vihar/Cuttack for SIDBI, a project worth Rs.10 Crore.
- Construction of Residential Complex at Kuwantilla, Kunjaban, Agartala for Agartala Municipal Council, a project worth Rs.10 Crore.
- Construction of Polytechnic at Fulkumari, Udaipur, South Tripura for Govt.of Tripura, w project worth Rs.15 Crore.
- Construction of Handloom House at Janpath, New Delhi for Ministry of Textiles, Govt.of India, a project worth Rs.41 Crore.
- Construction of Residential Flats at Madan Mohan Malinga Marg, Lucknow for SIDBI, a project worth Rs.5 Crore.
Industrial buildings and infrastructure
This is another area where the Company has excelled. Over the years, the following projects were completed and handed over:
- Construction of the Disaster Recovery Data Centre Building, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), at Hyderabad for Rs. 6 Crore.
- Construction of a sub-station for major projects at Mumbai Refinery, HPCL, for Rs.7.5 Crore.
- Construction of the water supply network at Balaghat Mines, Manganese Ore (India) Limited (MOIL), for Rs.12 Crore.
- Civil work at the Rajamundry LPG Plant for Rs.3.5 Crore
- Construction of godowns and infrastructure at Mandya and Tumkur, for the Karnataka Warehousing Corporation at a cost of Rs.5 Crore
- Construction of the RCC drain and laying the water supply pipeline at Dobaspet for the Karnataka Industrial Development Board for Rs.10 Crore.
